Start by reading through our orgasmic difficulty article. Orgasm during intercourse is more difficulty for women than for men for a variety of physical, emotional and relational reasons. Some of the things mentioned in the article may not prevent orgasm in general, but might be enough of a problem to prevent it during intercourse. For orgasm during intercourse the first and most important thing is strong pubococcygeal muscles (PC muscles). There is a well documented correlation between the strength of the PCs and the ability to orgasm during intercourse. The way to build these muscles up is with Kegel exercises. The second thing to do is have your wife be on top. This position will increase her stimulation, improving her ability to climax; it will also allow you to receive less stimulation, which will allow sex to continue longer and improve her chances. Once on top your wife needs to experiment and find the movement that is most pleasurable for her. Typical male thrusting is great for us, but not nearly as good for women. What will work best is going to be more of a rubbing motion against your body. The amount of pressure between your bodies is also a factor, and you may be able to improve stimulation for her by putting your hands on her hip or buttocks and pulling her closer to you.
This is a learning experience, and as with any other training or retraining of the body it will take time and effort to make it work. Finally realize that this is a futile exercise if she is not motivated to become orgasmic during intercourse – if she is only doing it for you it’s very likely to fail. Even if she does desire to make it happen, you will create problems if you are too incessant or too eager. Encourage her, but give her some space and let her control the pace. And always be ready and eager to use your hands or mouth if she does not climax during intercourse, or does not feel like trying.
